# FUNCTION STATS

> Get function execution stats.

Use `FUNCTION STATS` to read the current state of the function engine.

The reply reports the function that is running right now, if any, together with how long it has been running and the command that started it, plus per-engine counts of loaded libraries and functions. It is the usual way to check whether a long-running function is in progress before deciding to call [`FUNCTION KILL`](/redis/commands/functions/function-kill).

## Syntax

```redis
FUNCTION STATS
```

## Arguments

This command takes no arguments.

## Response

The reply reports the result of the operation. Error replies have the same shape in RESP2 and RESP3 and are surfaced as exceptions by the SDKs below.

| Protocol | Reply |
| --- | --- |
| RESP2 | Flat array of alternating keys and values |
| RESP3 | Map |

<Note>
  Client libraries often decode bulk strings, maps, sets, and numeric strings into language-native values. The table describes the Redis wire reply.
</Note>

## Examples

TCP examples use the TLS `REDIS_URL` from the Upstash console. REST examples use `UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_URL` and `UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_TOKEN`.
